Corporate Coaching

Does coaching really work in the corporate environment? A recent study in the Journal of Public Personnel Management found that training improved managerial productivity 22.4% while training plus coaching improved productivity 88%.
 
At  Horizon Consulting we believe the quality of the relationship between boss and subordinate is a major predictor of success. Talking with subordinates about their developmental needs absolutely affects that relationship positively and there's a big potential payoff.

Why are the words Team Member used instead of employee? Think about it…the words Team Member implies a person is a part of an organization because they want to be; they understand what the organization stands for and are totally on board! This creates a mutually accountable Team of individuals that will  benefit as a group by applying themselves to all tasks to thier highest potential, thus sharing in the successes of the organization.

Getting Started at the Right Pace

Most Corporations and Organizations are not used to coaching. Therefore, most managers or CEO's wanting to introduce or experiment with coaching wish to do so gradually, obtaining buy-in from key people, and then the rest of the company.

If you are interested in bringing coaching into your company, I suggest you:

 1) Experience a coaching session yourself first - so you can get a feel for it and make sure you're hiring a quality service that will have an impact on your firm. This can be done via telephone or face to face and may be requested by emailing us at  coaching@horizpro.com  or calling  (310) 780-3428. 2) Choose a pilot group of 3-10 employees to receive coaching. Ideally they will be senior people within the firm (critical if the results are to spread throughout the company, and to get buy-in further down), and will volunteer for coaching. Once you have clear results and buy-in from this group, coaching may be extended to other groups.

3) You might also like to have us come in and do a one hour group coaching session for staff either during  business hours or lunch time. (Response to this has been excellent.) You can then select the pilot group based on the feedback received.
